The Department of Physical Education was established in 1988, and renamed as the Department of Sport Promotion in 1999.  To enhance higher education needs, this department also offers the two-years service training program and the Master Programs. In order to cope with the government’s main objectives in sport promotion and the future leisure and recreation trends of the society, the objectives of the Department of Sport Promotion will be mainly focused on developing the professionals to meet above.  Therefore, the mission is to: 1. Train the professionals of sport promotion, 2. Develop quality instructors for early childhood physical education, and 3. Foster the professionals for sport events.  Hence, the course design will combine both theories and practices in major fields in sport professional training, early childhood physical education instruction, sport events and recreational sports planning and development.
