Department of Sport Promotion

Brief History


The Department of Physical Education was a forerunner of the Department of Sport Promotion, which established in (1988). The aims was to offer students an opportunity to continue higher education; prepare students¡¦ for different careers ability and service; and obtain students with a basic understanding of any aspect of research method or data analysis upon their graduation. In recent years, since government was encouraged a lifetime learning and valued of extension education, the need of the recreational sports for our society increased.
At the same time, two junior colleges of physical education were promoted to college which enhanced students with a variety ways for pursuing a higher degree. Therefore, in 1997 the department was preparing to transfer to a 4 years college. After two years, the Ministry of Education was authorized the school and become the Department of Sport Promotion in 1999. In 2000, the department established the¡¨ 2 years in service training program; In 2004, established the Master Program of Sport Promotion. In order to follow the trend of promoting the leisure and recreational sports for the nation, and adapting a great needs of leisure activity for our society. The educational goals for the department are: to foster professional sport promoting, and physical education instruction; to provide leisure curricula development, promoting, instructing, and consulting for the need of the community, career, and institution. Participating in sports and leisure activity will be aroused in a near future, thus, the number of participants would be increased in exercise, sport games, sport facility and sport clubs. Thus, it is great needs for the people who can cultivate the professional sport instruction with combine the knowledge of sport promotion, and also knowing to provide people with basic information related to exercise, physical activity, and sport. Aside from above, the department will has a complete system to develop sport planners and instructors, fulfill sport for all, integrate sport promotion and health-related leisure sport industry, and quality of participate the leisure activity. top¡ô
